Clock Movement

Movements

There are two type of movement used in the available Clocks and Chimes products, mechanical and Quartz.

Mechanical Movements – Three types of mechanical movements are used:

• • quarter hour melody with hourly strike, such as Westminster chimes movement,

• • hourly strike with half hour strike (Bim Bam),

• • Singe bell chime on each hour.

These Mechanical Movements can be identified by looking at the clock dial:

• • quarter hour melody has three arbours/holes in the dial – chimes, strike and time,

• • hourly strike has two arbours/holes in the dial – strike and time,

• • Singe bell has no arbours/holes in the dial.

Quartz Movements – There are three type of Quartz movement used:

• • Chiming quartz movement, quarter hour melody with hourly strike, such as Westminster chimes movement,

• • Radio controlled quartz movement.

• • Standard quartz, stepping movement.
